Russia Creates New Generation Hydrogen Energy Core

A new electrolysis battery developed by NPO "Tsentrotekh" reduces energy consumption and is suitable for industrial complexes

An electrolysis battery for industrial hydrogen production plants has been developed in Novouralsk. The new system allows for the production of hydrogen with 99.99% purity, consuming approximately 4 kWh of electricity per cubic meter of gas. The technology is suitable for both laboratory setups and large industrial complexes with a capacity of thousands of cubic meters per hour.

The developer was NPO "Tsentrotekh", a resident of the "Novouralsk" priority development area. The key element of the installation is the electrolysis battery, inside which water is separated into hydrogen and oxygen.

One of the main components of the system is a matrix electrolyte placed in a special membrane. It acts as a selective filter and only allows particles necessary for the electrochemical reaction to pass through.

The resulting hydrogen meets the requirements of medicine, microelectronics, and other industries where high-purity gas is needed. The developers note that the technology can be used to supply hydrogen to transport, industrial enterprises, and urban infrastructure.
