Expert Ryumshin: Devices help quickly deploy firing positions

Fighters of mobile fire groups (MOG) must have special equipment for effective combat against drones, including machine gun tripods and mounts. This was stated by Kirill Ryumshin, head of testing at Zavoz.pro.

Of key importance are devices that allow for quick deployment of firing positions and accurate aiming.

Mobility, stability, and versatility (for different types of weapons) are important for such products, he emphasized.

Special equipment for MOG:

  • Mounts and holders for screens displaying images from thermal imagers
  • Closed-type muzzle brakes-compensators (DTK) that reduce muzzle flash during firing
  • Fire control grips for convenient weapon handling
  • Vices for loading large-caliber machine gun belts
  • Analogues of Rakov's machine for loading belts

Ryumshin stressed that the technical equipment of MOGs must be at a high level. The safety of objects where traditional air defense systems cannot be used depends on the work of the fighters, he concluded.

Rakov's Machine

The Soviet mechanical device for quickly loading machine gun belts was adopted in 1967. It resembles a meat grinder into which cartridges are loaded and a machine gun belt is threaded.

When the handle is rotated, the cartridge is inserted into the belt link. Rakov's machine is most often used for 7.62×54 mm R cartridges (PK, PKM, PKP "Pecheneg"), but there are modifications for ammunition of other calibers.
