The promising heavy Russian aircraft engine PD-35 may be used in other industries in the future. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov.
The developed PD-35 engine can also be used for both military and civil aircraft, as we hope, and for power engineering.
It should be noted that initially, the PD-35 with 35 tons of thrust was declared as an engine for a promising wide-body aircraft. However, the idea of using units in the energy sector is not new — aviation units successfully pump gas.
However, ideas then emerged to adapt the power unit based on the PD-35 gas generator for a new military transport aircraft. Only two countries in the world possess such technologies — the USA and France.
At the same time, aviation engineer Valery Ageev stated that the PD-35 does not live up to high expectations, producing 26 tons of thrust instead of the promised 35 tons.
