"Oreshnik" Can Create an Underground Seismic Wave

Military expert Yuri Knutov: MRBM sub-blocks hit a large area

The Russian medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik" is capable of creating an underground seismic wave due to the kinetic impact of its warheads. This was stated by military expert Yuri Knutov.

According to him, one of the key features of the complex is a multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle (MIRV) with individually guided warheads, which then divide into sub-blocks.

Due to the kinetic impact, destruction occurs not only on the surface of the earth, but also an underground seismic wave is generated.

Military analyst Drago Bosnic previously stated that Russia may be working on an improved version of the "Oreshnik". According to his assessment, the prospective modification could receive up to 8 warheads and an updated guidance system.

Chinese analysts from the Sohu portal explained that the invulnerability of the "Oreshnik" to air defense and electronic warfare systems is due to the use of Soviet vacuum tubes, which do not perceive interference.
