AL-51F1 engine for Su-57 will provide supersonic speed without afterburner

The power plant has an increased service life compared to the AL-41F1

The new second-stage AL-51F1 engine for the Su-57 fighter will provide supersonic speed without the use of afterburner. This was stated by Rostec.

The engine also has reduced fuel consumption in all modes and an increased service life, the press service said.

That is, the operating life of the engine is significantly extended compared to previous generation power plants.

The state corporation emphasized that the production of combat aircraft has doubled since 2022.

It should be noted that the first versions of the Su-57 were equipped with the first-stage AL-41F1 engine with a thrust of 15,000 kgf with afterburner. The maximum thrust of the new AL-51F1 is about 11,000 kgf (without afterburner), and with afterburner - up to 18,000 kgf. This significantly increases the aircraft's thrust-to-weight ratio.

The power plant is also equipped with a new nozzle, which reduces the aircraft's visibility in the infrared and radar ranges.
