Ruzhimmash engineers have proposed a new flatcar frame design that increases its carrying capacity by redesigning the side beams. The solution concerns one of the key elements of the railway platform's load-bearing system and aims to increase its strength without significantly increasing its weight.
In the new model, the beam has a variable height: the maximum part is located in the middle zone, and it decreases towards the ends. In the transition zone, special inserts of variable height are provided on the inner and outer sides, which connect to the beam shelves and reinforce the structure in places where the geometry changes.
According to the authors' idea, this scheme distributes loads more evenly and allows the frame to withstand greater weight while maintaining the overall reliability of the car.
The design also retains the main elements of the platform: front and transverse beams, bolster beams, shortened center sill beams, as well as the running gear, automatic couplers, braking equipment, and fitting stops.
