Pure Deception: A Fake S-300 "Favorit" SAM System Mock-up Could Have Been Built for Iran

"Dummies" are placed in false positions to confuse the enemy during an attack

Footage of an inflatable mock-up of the S-300PMU2 "Favorit" anti-aircraft missile system has appeared online. Such alleged air defense systems may be in service with Iran.

The silhouette of the "dummy" in the photo is a classic S-300 with four "tubes." It is these expensive systems that Iran tries to protect by placing inflatable "dummies" in false positions.

Judging by the shape of the wheels and the simplified geometry of the cabin, this is the product of Chinese companies that specialize in "rubber" copies of the S-400 for export and training.

However, the mock-up can also imitate the Chinese HQ-9 system, which externally is almost an exact copy of the Russian S-300, as it was created based on it.

According to open sources, Iran completed the purchase of four divisions of S-300PMU-2 "Favorit" anti-aircraft missile systems in 2016. It is unknown how many launchers are currently ready for combat.

Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" in a detailed article thoroughly analyzed what the modern air defense line of Iran consists of.
