The Governor of the Belgorod Region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, published footage of the real combat operation of the "Nomad" laser air defense system. The advanced system confidently engages drones.
In the video, you can see how the crew takes the drone into the target designator and starts burning through its fuselage with a laser. After the energy impact, the drone simply falls to the ground.
The range of the "Nomad" is up to 2 km. The specialized Telegram channel "Russian Weapon" explained the principle of operation of the installation.
Judging by the video of objective control, the laser complex is controlled by gearless drives based on torque motors. It has a power of about 25 kW and is equipped with both a thermal imaging and television guidance module, as well as an X- or Ka-band radar.
LaserBazz is also working on creating a new laser air defense system as part of the "Staff" project. During the tests, the laser first shot down a drone at a distance of 1,500 m.
Such systems can significantly enhance protection against small and fast drones. First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov explained that their use will become more active as production volumes increase.
