The total size of the global orbital satellite constellation has exceeded 11 thousand spacecraft. These figures were cited by Roscosmos head Dmitry Bakanov.
According to him, the number of satellites is only increasing every year.
This is a very stable trend toward the development of space technologies in a great many countries.
At the beginning of 2026, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov reported that by the end of 2025, the number of domestic satellites had reached 300 units. For comparison, at the end of 2024 there were about 290. That is, Russia possesses approximately 2.7% of the global satellite constellation.
Nevertheless, at the end of March, the company "Byuro 1440" successfully put into orbit the first 16 satellites of the low-orbit "Rassvet" constellation.
The communications spacecraft received an upgraded power supply system, next-generation inter-satellite laser communication terminals, and a plasma propulsion unit.
