"Almost caught up with SpaceX": Roscosmos launched 130 spacecraft into space in a year

The pace of putting satellites into orbit will increase in 2026

Roscosmos intends to increase the rate of launching spacecraft in 2026. This was announced by the head of the department, Dmitry Bakanov, at a meeting in the Federation Council.

He clarified that in the period from February 2025 to March 2026, the corporation successfully put more than 130 spacecraft into orbit.

In the Russian segment of the Internet, a user under the nickname Akatenev sarcastically joked that Roscosmos is approaching the performance of the American company SpaceX.

Well, they almost caught up with yesterday's SpaceX. They launched 148 in one day yesterday. Only one launch under the Starlink program - in terms of payload weight, this is about half of what Roscosmos puts into orbit in a year.

In his speech, Bakanov added that the construction of the Vostochny Cosmodrome is planned to be completed by the end of 2026. The head of the corporation announced some problem with contractors, but did not provide details.

Contracts with them were concluded in previous periods. We plan to complete the construction of the Vostochny Cosmodrome by the fall of 2026, but, God willing, we will complete it by the end of this year.

From other important statements by Bakanov, it follows that all production facilities of the Khrunichev Center rocket will be moved from Moscow to Omsk, and the production of rocket engines will be moved from Khimki to Perm, to the Perm Motors plant.
