Russian T-90M tanks and other armored vehicles will be able to receive additional protection from drones by installing the "Spitsa" module. This proposal was made by military historian Alexander Polishchuk.
According to him, solutions have emerged in recent months that allow for more effective combat against drones. This involves 30-mm weapons and ammunition with remote detonation, which are already compatible with existing equipment.
Last October, we were told about the "Spitsa" complex. This is a 30-millimeter cannon, it is installed on "Tigers" and everything else
Polishchuk added that similar modules can be installed not only on light equipment, but also on more protected platforms. In particular, he mentioned BMP-2, T-72, T-80, and T-90 tanks, as well as specialized vehicles.
Develop this line. Develop - there is tank armor, cover it with ERA and active protection systems, put a cope cage on it, install "Spitsa" on it, which will shoot down drones, and storm calmly.
The presence of a cannon with a large elevation angle allows the use of such platforms as a mobile means of countering drones, the historian explained. At the same time, already developed ammunition expands the possibilities of hitting targets.
As a reminder, the BM-30-D "Spitsa" module in a stationary anti-drone version was first shown in the fall of 2025. The fire control system includes television and thermal imaging channels, a laser rangefinder, and an automatic target tracker. was shown in the fall of 2025. Earlier it became known that the Serbian army had already armed Lazar 3M armored personnel carriers with "Spitsa". The 2A42 30-mm automatic cannon is capable of penetrating the side armor plates of BMP M2A2 ODS-SA Bradley, CV90 and 1A3 Marder.
