Graduates of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) have completed training within the framework of the "Wings of Rostec" educational and professional track and have started working in the design and development departments of "ODK-Saturn." One of the tasks for young specialists will be to reduce the weight of the PD-8 engine, according to engineer Daniil Poroshin.
He noted that he had completed a practical assignment on the engine compressor, solving problems related to the selection of materials, fits, and manufacturing technologies.
Now I will work in the compressor department, where I will have to work with experienced colleagues to develop solutions that will reduce the weight of the latest PD-8 engine in the future.
In December 2025, a source from the Kazan publication "Business Online" in the aviation industry noted that the PD-8 was not delivering the necessary thrust for flights with a full load. Apparently, this problem has been resolved.
The certification of the PD-8 was originally planned for November 2025, but was postponed to April 2026.
