Free VPN services to bypass blocking can lead to leakage of confidential user data. This was stated by Ivan Chernov, Director of Product Strategy at UserGate.
Roskomnadzor previously reported a mass mailing of fake letters stating that it is forbidden to use VPN services in the workplace.
Due to the high demand for such software products, a huge number of fraudulent tools appear.
Free VPNs can indeed perform their function, but at the same time infect devices with a virus. With its help, fraudsters steal personal data and passwords of Russians.
According to him, usually developers of programs that are free for the user monetize them through advertising. But, if there is no advertising block in the VPN service, it is most likely distributing a virus. Such an application should be urgently removed, Chernov summarized.
