The TV7-117ST-01 turboprop engine confirmed reliable operation when used in low-temperature conditions. The next stage of testing of the Il-114-300 with these powerplants took place in Yakutia.
The United Engine Corporation (UEC) noted that a key element of the program was testing the "cold start." The aircraft was subjected to prolonged cold soaking at an air temperature of -45°C.
After many hours of parking in extreme conditions, the TV7-117ST-01 turboprop engines started up normally without any remarks.
The corporation added that the test results confirmed not only the high reliability of the powerplant, but also the equipment's readiness for operation in the coldest regions of the country.
The Federal Air Transport Agency documentation for the power unit specifies that when the oil temperature in the lubrication system is from minus 60°C to below -40°C, the start of the TV7-117ST-01 is ensured with preliminary heating of the oil to a temperature not lower than -40°C.
Let us recall that the TV7-117ST-01 develops 3,100 hp at takeoff, and the AV112-114 propeller provides thrust of up to 4 tons. In many technical parameters, the powerplant surpasses foreign counterparts.
