For Russia, the potential return of the American company Boeing to the domestic market will be very beneficial, as maintaining the current aircraft fleet is becoming increasingly difficult. The domestic aircraft industry will not suffer anyway, the new aircraft MC-21, SJ-100 and Tu-214 are not intended for long-distance flights, according to the head of the analytical bureau SONAR-2050 Ivan Lizan.
According to him, for Boeing, the resumption of cooperation with Russia is also very beneficial against the background of problems with China, which is strengthening cooperation with Airbus and does not seek to purchase American aviation equipment.
But a logical question arises about what to do with Russian aircraft in the form of "Superjet", MC-21 and Tu-214. The answer is simple: one does not interfere with the other. MC, "Superjet" and Tu are narrow-body aircraft, and, based on how difficult the work on them is, they will be brought to mind and put into series.
Lizan recalled that in Russia, out of the entire array of foreign aircraft in the fleet of airlines, about 37–40% are Boeing aircraft.
Boeing has wide-body aircraft that are not produced in Russia: Il-96, the last Soviet wide-body aircraft, needs significant modernization and replacement of 4 PS-90A engines with two PD-35s. This will require scarce personnel, money and time. And you need to fly now.
As a reminder, Boeing officially announced the suspension of its activities in Russia on March 1, 2022. The very next day, the company stopped supplying parts, providing maintenance and providing engineering support to Russian airlines.
