Russia’s successes in creating an independent aircraft industry have inspired India to develop its own civil aviation sector. This was stated by United Aircraft Corporation (OAK) CEO Vadim Badekha on the sidelines of the Wings India 2026 exhibition.
According to him, Indian partners saw from Russia’s example that creating a national aviation industry is an achievable task.
India is on the threshold of creating its own civil aviation sector, its own civil aviation industry, and they are inspired by the path we have taken. They see that, in principle, it is possible, that there is no need to depend on some Western supplier, that you can rely on your own strength.
Russia signed a contract with the Indian corporation HAL for the licensed production and sales of the SJ-100, and also concluded an agreement with Flamingo Aerospace for the delivery of the first six Il-114-300 turboprops, with shipments to begin in 2028.
