The Russian heavy military transport aircraft Il-76 transported a Mi-8 helicopter and other equipment from a base in the city of Qamishli. This was reported by local media.
The published footage shows that the rotors had to be dismantled from the Mi-8 before loading. Apparently, the helicopter was moved using the onboard electric winches and hoists of the Il-76. Loading in such cases is carried out via the ramp, which serves as an inclined entrance in the Il-76.
After loading is completed, the helicopter fuselage is rigidly fixed in the cargo compartment using lashing chains and cables to prevent any displacement during takeoff, landing, or in a turbulence zone.
Careful centering of the cargo allows the Il-76 to maintain stability in the air, even if there are two helicopters or other equipment on board at once.
This method of transportation is the most efficient way to transfer aviation over long distances, allowing equipment to be delivered to a new deployment location in the shortest possible time.
The Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft is of great interest in the world; there is a queue of customers for it, according to Vadim Badeha, head of the United Aircraft Corporation.
