The overhaul of the passenger motor ship "Leonid Markov" continues at the Laisky Shipyard (Arkhangelsk Region). As part of the preparation of the vessel for the upcoming navigation, the plant's specialists have already partially replaced the hull metal and carried out sandblasting, which will ensure high quality of subsequent painting. Special attention during the repair is paid to the modernization of the power plant.
It is planned to replace the standard 30 kW diesel generators with new 50 kW units each. This decision was made taking into account the expansion of the period of operation of river transport in the cold season. Increasing the power of the generators will maintain a comfortable temperature in passenger cabins even in early frosts and late autumn.
The motor ship "Leonid Markov", built in Moscow in 1989 according to a standard project, had already undergone a major modernization in 2015 at the same Laisky SRZ. Then the main engines and auxiliary equipment of the engine room were replaced, and the interior of the passenger compartment was completely updated. Now the ship is designed to carry 228 passengers and is used on suburban routes connecting the center of Arkhangelsk with island territories and settlements of the Primorsky district.
