A contract has been signed in Russia for an underwater survey of the sunken PD-50 floating dock in the Murmansk region. The cost of the work is about 240 million rubles. The customer is JSC "LENMORNIIPROEKT", the contractor is currently unknown.
Specialists will conduct a complete diving and instrumental survey of the dock's hull, including ballast compartments and mooring connections with a length of almost four kilometers. They will perform photo and video recording of all structures with coordinate referencing.
As part of the work, the thickness of the hull metal and the slipway deck will be measured, and the degree of corrosion wear will be assessed. A multibeam echo sounder, sonar, and lidar will be used to survey the seabed. The angles of list and trim, as well as the dock's penetration into the ground, will be determined.
Based on the survey results, specialists will create a three-dimensional digital model of the object with a detail of up to two centimeters. The model will show the volume and condition of the structures, as well as their connection to the seabed at a distance of up to 150 meters from the hull.
As a separate stage, specialists will survey underwater objects along the route of transporting the dock to the dismantling site. At the end of the work, the contractor will provide the customer with a complete set of technical documentation, including reports, diagrams, drawings, videos, and photos.
As a reminder, the accident on the PD-50 occurred on October 30, 2018, during the exit of the only Russian aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov" from the dock after repairs. The preliminary cause of the emergency was power outage. Due to the fall of the crane, the hull and deck of the cruiser were damaged. The cost of all work to raise the floating dock from the bottom was estimated at 840 million rubles.
