On January 22, 2026, the first test run of the new 11-car electric train "Ivolga 4.0" took place on the Moscow — Kaluga route and back. The route, with a length of over 300 kilometers, was completed without passengers under the supervision of specialists from RZD, the Central Suburban Passenger Company (CPPC), and the Moscow Department of Transport.
During the test run, engineers assessed the compatibility of the rolling stock with the existing public infrastructure. In particular, the actual time parameters of travel between stations and sections, the stability of movement on bridges, in tunnels, and on overpasses, as well as the correct operation of automation, telemechanics, traction, and power equipment at speeds up to 160 km/h were checked.
The trip became a key stage in the implementation of the first phase of the federal project for the development of the Central Transport Hub (CTH), aimed at expanding suburban railway transportation from Moscow to the regions of Central Russia. As previously reported by CPPC, the project covers the Kaluga, Tula, Vladimir, and Ivanovo regions.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the second EP2DM electric train was launched on the Finland direction of the Oktyabrskaya Railway.
