Import Substitution in the Sky: By 2030, Half of the Airplanes in Russia Will Be Domestically Produced

By 2030, half of the aircraft in the fleet of Russian airlines should be of domestic production. This follows from government documents, which were reviewed by RIA Novosti.

Currently, the share of Russian aircraft in the fleets of domestic carriers is about 19%. By 2028, the figure should grow to 30%, and by the end of the decade - reach 50%. This refers not only to passenger ships, but also to the development of unmanned aviation: if today about 43% of unmanned systems on the Russian market are produced in Russia, then by 2028 their share will exceed half, and by 2030 - 70%.

As Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin previously reported, it is planned to build more than 600 fully Russian aircraft in the country over the next six years. The basis of the updated aircraft fleet will be models SSJ-New, MC-21-310, Il-114-300, Tu-214 and Il-96-300. These machines should replace foreign aircraft, the maintenance and supply of spare parts to which have become more complicated after the introduction of sanctions.

The Russian government expects that increasing the share of domestic equipment will not only reduce dependence on imports, but also create thousands of jobs in the aviation industry. The production of new aircraft will give impetus to related industries - from engine building to the electronic component base.
