The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has created a design bureau as part of a project to develop new serial low-speed engines, the USC press service reported.
According to the corporation's idea, the new bureau will quickly begin developing a low-speed engine and prepare an industrial base for mass production.
As part of the first phase of the project, USC involved the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ), with which it has already implemented a block of work on pre-project preparation, said Sergey Bondarenko, Deputy General Director of the corporation.
The successful completion of the first phase of the project to create a domestic low-speed engine allows USC to complete cooperation with KMZ in this area. In this regard, the corporation is withdrawing from the capital of KMZ and returning it to its former owners.
USC added that the next stage of work on creating low-speed engines will be the development of a technical project, a set of working design documentation for the main parts and assemblies, as well as the determination of the manufacturing enterprise. The new technological partner will be the Kronstadt Engineering Center.
The manufacturing of the first low-speed engine for the domestic fleet, testing and certification are planned for 2027-2028.
Earlier it became known thatKMZ left USC. The parties expect to continue cooperation on a partnership basis.
