The United Aircraft Corporation (OAK, part of Rostec) will undertake refinement of the import-substituted version of the MS-21 aircraft. The Aviatsiya Rossii portal clarified which specific elements of the airliner can be lightened to improve aerodynamic and flight performance characteristics.
As part of the measures, preparation of a report on solutions aimed at reducing the airframe's weight is planned. The deadline for completing this stage has been set no later than December 31, 2026.
Including the structures of the wing box, center section, landing gear bay, wing high-lift device elements, the "wing-fuselage" fairing, the pylon, individual fuselage elements, and aircraft systems.
Earlier it became known that the Cabinet of Ministers had allowed OAK to allocate 2.2 billion rubles to this task.
RunAvia flight safety service head Andrei Patrakov explained to "Pervomu Tekhnicheskomu" that the drop in the flight range of the MS-21-310 is linked to import-substituted composite materials.
