Russian air carriers may still not see the new domestic MS-21 aircraft in 2026. Rosaviatsiya chief Dmitry Yadrov explained that the start of deliveries directly depends on the completion of certification procedures.
After that, time will be needed for acceptance of production aircraft, crew training, and the running-in of the airliners before they enter commercial service.
It is important to understand that after the completion of aircraft certification, about three months are needed before airlines begin operating them on commercial routes. This is connected with the process of accepting aircraft from serial production, training flight crews, and running in the machines.
From this, it can be concluded that the actual start of MS-21 operations may already shift to 2027. Rostec head Sergey Chemezov spoke about plans to complete the airliner's certification at the end of 2026.
Recall that the current version of the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Civil Aviation through 2030 provides for the delivery of 270 MS-21-310 aircraft, and four years remain to fulfill the plans.
Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov noted that they intend to reduce the production cost of the MS-21-310 by engaging alternative suppliers.
