Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orban invited to the ceremony of laying the first concrete of the station

Construction of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant in Hungary is scheduled to begin in February 2026. This was announced by the head of Rosatom State Corporation, Alexey Likhachev.

Managed to remove all American obstacles to this work. In the first quarter of next year, we will move on to large-scale construction and carry out the first concrete pour.
Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom State Corporation

He clarified that a number of organizational issues still remain. The work will depend on the Hungarian regulator and the customer.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Russian President Vladimir Putin were invited to the ceremonial laying of the first concrete of the station.

In 2009, the Hungarian government approved the expansion of the country's only operating Soviet-built Paks nuclear power plant by building two more power units. The project was estimated at 12.5 billion euros.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Rosatom received permission from Hungary to build the Paks-2 NPP.
