In November 2024, the administration of then-US President Joe Biden imposed sanctions against Gazprombank, through which the project was financed.

Fortunately, since January, a president (Donald Trump) has appeared in the White House in Washington who sees Hungary as a friend. Based on this, the US government has lifted sanctions on investments in the Paks nuclear power plant.

Despite the sanctions pressure, specialists of the Rosatom Group began forging a batch of blanks for elements of the reactor vessel of the sixth power unit of the Paks-2 NPP in early April 2025. The total weight of the blanks was 600 tons.
