The Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter is capable of confidently destroying even Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) thanks to the latest Kh-85UShK missiles. This assumption was made by military journalist Alexander Kotz.
He drew attention to the fact that the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) still demonstrated the internal fuselage weapon bays of the aircraft. There are four of them on the aircraft - two central and two lateral.
There are also external hardpoints, but missiles on them increase the visibility of the "invisible" to radar stations (radar).
Low-observable Su-57s are capable of hitting Western SAMs without entering their engagement zone. In addition, the pilot doesn't even need to know the exact location of the battery. In fact, the missile implements the "fire-and-forget" principle. The launch is carried out in the area of the radar, and then the Kh-85UShK will find it itself. And without radar, the entire Patriot SAM battery, worth a billion bucks, turns into a pumpkin.
As a reminder, the Kh-58UShK missiles are equipped with multi-band passive radar homing heads operating in the frequency range from 0.1 to 11 GHz.
They cover the operating ranges of most Western-made SAM radars - from AN/MPQ-53 Patriot complexes to TRML-4D IRIS-T complexes.
