The former General Motors plant will be restarted in St. Petersburg. Car production will be launched in early 2026.
Initially, the partners stated that they would launch at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. For now, we are still focusing on the beginning of next year.
The project will be implemented by AGR company with its subsidiary AGM. An automotive cluster will be created on the territory of the special economic zone "Shushary". The expected production volume is thousands, and then tens of thousands of cars annually.
The total investment in the project is 46.43 billion rubles over 15 years. It is also planned to build a research and production center with an area of 18 thousand square meters.
The former General Motors plant was opened in St. Petersburg in 2008. The company ceased operations in 2015, after the departure of the American auto concern.
In early 2025, the plant was transferred to Art-Finance company. The company was renamed to AGR Automobile Plant.
