«Суперджет» с двигателями ПД-8 прошёл жёсткий тест в Жуковском

The liner was sent to a pool with water

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of the Rostec Group) has successfully conducted rare tests of the new import-substituted Superjet with domestic PD-8 engines. At the Gromov Flight Research Institute airfield in Zhukovsky, the liner passed a test for resistance to water entering the engines while running along the runway with an artificial "pool".

For the tests, specialists equipped a water strip more than 70 m long and 12 m wide.

The aircraft performed runs at different speeds, including thrust reversal mode - a critical stage for checking safety during landing in the rain.

The tests confirmed that water does not affect the operation of the main engines and auxiliary power unit. The PD-8 power plants operate reliably even when a significant amount of moisture enters.

The PD-8 engine with a capacity of 8 tons is a completely Russian development of the UEC-Saturn enterprise. It was created for Superjet-100 aircraft and Be-200 amphibians, using modern materials and technologies that ensure resource and fuel efficiency at the level of world analogues.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia will earn billions of dollars for the aviation industry by producing SJ-100 abroad.
