In 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia plans to conduct research and development work (R&D) to install new engines on the SSJ-100 aircraft, and the ministry will propose that the government finance them from the ministry's funds. This was announced by the head of the ministry, Anton Alikhanov.
According to him, the Superjet airframe still has a large margin of resource, so it is important to conduct R&D to solve some technical issues with component replacement.
Nevertheless, there are some works that need to be completed. I think that we will definitely take on these works. We will finance it from the ministry's hand. In any case, we will propose such a path to the government leadership. And we plan to carry out this work next year.
Alikhanov specified that the replacement of engines on the SSJ-100 is planned to be carried out through mechanisms related to leasing companies. It is worth recalling that two years ago, the United Aircraft Corporation stated that such a replacement is economically unprofitable.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a Rostec commission with Serdyukov and UAC visited the production of the PD-8 engine.
