Moscow authorities continue to modernize equipment in the capital's metro. In 2026, new generation turnstiles will appear at 25 stations. This was reported by the press service of the Moscow Department of Transport.
According to the task set by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, more than 4.5 thousand new generation turnstiles will be installed at metro, MCC, and MCD stations by the end of 2031.
According to Liksutov, the updated equipment will increase the capacity of metro stations by 40%.
The metro access control devices were developed and manufactured in Moscow. They incorporate facial recognition cameras for fare payment via biometrics.
Features of the new generation turnstiles:
- Ergonomic design
- Intuitive interface for instant payment
- Color indication when making a payment
- Vibration feedback on transaction status (for visually impaired passengers)
In the summer, new turnstiles were presented at the exhibition "The Very Same Moscow". The developers noted that their reading system instantly recognizes various digital payment systems, including the virtual "Troika" card, SBP, and biometric data.
