AvtoVAZ spoke about the new VAZ 11184 engine with a volume of 1.8 liters and a power of 90 hp. It is designed for SUVs of the Niva family and is characterized by high torque even at idle. This makes the behavior of the unit similar to diesel engines.
The new engine is assembled on a modernized line, which was previously used only for 16-valve engines. Now it is equipped with five additional automatic stations, including for pressing in oil scraper caps and valve cottering.
All processes are controlled by an automation system. If an error is detected, the assembly stops.
The delivery of components is provided by ANT trolleys in automatic mode. Each engine undergoes a multi-stage check (hot tests and leak testing of the oil and cooling systems).
Thanks to the modernization, the company produces up to 23 engines per hour instead of the previous 17.
