The Russian landing ship "Alexander Shabalin" of Project 775 has been located off the coast of Germany for several days. The ship anchored at the entrance to Lübeck Bay and attracted the attention of the German media, police and military.

According to the Kieler Nachrichten newspaper, the large landing ship "Alexander Shabalin" is located east of the island of Fehmarn. Its arrival was accompanied by the patrol ship Bamberg of the German Federal Police and a Danish patrol boat.

A police representative in Bad Bramstedt, Wulf Winterhoff, confirmed that the ship remains in international waters.

A ship with a history The large landing ship "Alexander Shabalin" (Project 775, code Ropucha according to NATO classification) is part of the Russian Baltic Fleet. The ship was built at a shipyard in Gdańsk and commissioned in 1985.

The ship is designed for landing naval assault forces, transporting armored vehicles and cargo. Its displacement exceeds 4 thousand tons, and it can take up to 500 tons of equipment or 10 tanks on board.

The armament of the "Alexander Shabalin" includes a 57-mm AK-725 artillery mount, the Strela-3 anti-aircraft missile system and multiple launch rocket systems to cover the landing. During its years of service, the "Shabalin" participated in major exercises of the Baltic Fleet, and in recent years has often cruised near NATO activity zones.
