The new light multi-purpose aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal" will be ready for take-off in 2025 after the completion of laboratory work on the VK-800 engine. This was announced on Friday, October 17, by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Anton Alikhanov.
According to him, the budget continues to finance research and development work in the design of the aircraft.
"Baikal" will be ready to take off this year, as soon as we finish the entire laboratory for the engine. You know that the VK-800, a new propeller, is being created for it.
It is already known that the first five light aircraft "Baikal" will be transferred to the airline "Aurora" at the end of 2026. The aircraft will replace the Soviet multi-purpose nine-seater An-2.
The cruising speed of the aircraft is up to 300 km per hour, the maximum flight range is 3 thousand km (with a payload of 2 tons - 1.5 thousand km).
Earlier www1.ru reported that ODK eliminated a dangerous defect in aircraft engines: the problem of compressor surge has been solved.
