Unmanned Smart Luggage Tractors from Cognitive Pilot Begin Testing at Pulkovo Airport

The computer vision system of the equipment is capable of independently recognizing the environment, road markings, people, and obstacles

Autonomous tractors manufactured by Cognitive Pilot are being tested at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. These tractors are designed for automated transportation of luggage between the terminal and aircraft. The project is being implemented as part of the airport's digital transformation program and aims to optimize ground handling processes to improve efficiency and safety.

Thanks to the computer vision system and sensors, the equipment can independently recognize the environment, including road markings, people, and obstacles. Artificial intelligence controls movement by analyzing the situation and choosing the optimal route for safe travel.

Testing will continue until March 2026. During this period, specialists will evaluate the stability of the tractors in various weather conditions, interaction with personnel, and integration into the existing airport logistics.

The "Northern Capital Gateway" company reported that the use of unmanned technologies will reduce the burden on personnel, reduce downtime, and speed up baggage handling. In the future, Pulkovo Airport plans to continue expanding the project and test other types of autonomous transport, such as electric buses for passenger transportation.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that RM Rail certified a new innovative tank for petroleum products.
