The operation of the updated hovercraft was tested in the Anadyr estuary, the Department of Industrial Policy of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug reported.
An airboat is a vessel with a flat hull, propelled by a propeller that forces air under the bottom, creating lift. The air cushion reduces friction, allowing the vessel to move at high speed on water, ice, snow and swamps.
In various conditions, including emergency situations, the airboats successfully passed the tests and demonstrated their reliability and readiness for operation in Chukotka.
During the test launch, we thoroughly checked the technical condition of the airboats, passenger safety and the actions of crews in emergency situations.
From October 21, airboats will begin regular flights, running every two hours to ensure fast and comfortable passenger transportation. If necessary, taking into account passenger traffic, it is possible to increase the frequency of flights.
