The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug has received a modern Geoscan 701 fixed-wing UAV, which is adapted for operation in harsh Arctic conditions. It is designed for environmental monitoring and search operations.

For our region with its vast distances and complex logistics, and the lack of road connections between settlements, the drone will be a real breakthrough. It will allow receiving up-to-date information about emergencies in real time, minimizing risks for rescuers.

It can be used to track fires, floods, and ice conditions. It also helps conduct search operations in remote areas of the Arctic.

The unmanned aerial system (UAS) can stay in the air for up to 10 hours. It monitors the territory within a radius of 100 kilometers at a speed of up to 120 km/h. It is especially important that it is capable of operating at extremely low temperatures (down to -40°C).

Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted exercises in the Nizhny Novgorod region using new drones. The goal was to practice data transmission from drones and interaction with the Ministry of Emergency Situations aviation during operations, including the dropping of fire extinguishing agents.
