The head of state congratulated everyone working in these important areas on their professional holidays, and also noted the importance of road infrastructure and transport for the country.

The quality of life of millions of our citizens, the development of trade relations, modern logistics, tourism, industry, business, our cities and towns, rural areas – in short, the whole country – directly depends on reliable, uninterrupted transport links.
Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation

Vladimir Putin also remotely took part in the opening of road infrastructure facilities in a number of regions of the country:

  • In the Republic of Karelia, after a major overhaul, a section of the A-215 highway was launched, connecting the region with the Leningrad and Vologda regions.
  • In the Republic of Tatarstan, a bypass of the village of Sokury was opened — the main exit from Kazan to the M-12 highway.
  • In the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — the southern bypass of Surgut with a bridge across the Ob River.
This year, the Government has approved a six-year road work plan — this is the first time in modern history: it combines activities at the federal, regional, and municipal levels. And all sources of funding are also provided.
Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister

The Deputy Prime Minister said that this year work is ahead of schedule by 29% compared to last year, and at least 28 thousand kilometers of roads will be repaired and built by the end of the year.

He also noted the key priority areas for road development in international transport corridors: "North — South", "West — East", "Europe — Western China" and access roads to them.
