In 2025, the Russian Space Forces detected the launches of over 1,300 domestic and foreign ballistic missiles, as well as space launch vehicles. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The department reminded that the Space Forces are part of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of the Russian Federation. They include the 15th Army of the VKS of special purpose and military units of the Plesetsk cosmodrome.
Among the main tasks of the Space Forces are warning of a missile attack, identifying threats to Russia in space, and monitoring the situation in outer space.
As part of combat duty, specialists from the Main Center for Space Situation Intelligence took over 3,200 space objects for tracking and monitored the launch of over 3,000 space vehicles into orbit.
