Special armored trains of the Russian Armed Forces rarely appear in camera lenses and news reports. These "fortresses on wheels" are perceived by many as something archaic in the context of modern warfare. Meanwhile, they perform many important tasks.
The armored train received a comprehensive upgrade: 20-mm armor protects the entire composition, and the armament includes a 23-mm anti-aircraft gun, machine-gun nests, sniper posts, and a UAV crew. The modernization also affected electronic warfare equipment, where modern "Kamysh" systems were installed to counter drone attacks.
As explained by the chief of staff of the special train, the tasks of the "Volga" include technical reconnaissance of tracks, engineering reconnaissance of bridge crossings, demining, combat security, and repelling attacks by sabotage groups.
Earlier, www1 reported that delays in the development of the next-generation aircraft PAK DA increased the likelihood of additional de-preservation of Tu-22M3 strategists.
