AvtoVAZ will begin developing and mastering new generations of engines. This is reported by the press service of the enterprise.
The actualization of AvtoVAZ's plans was told by the first executive vice president for strategy and technical development of AvtoVAZ JSC, Evgeny Shmelev. He confirmed that, in addition to continuing work on Lada Azimut, the development and mastering of new generations of engines that will be installed on the new product and other Lada models will be carried out.
Shmelev did not specify what kind of engines he was talking about. There is a possibility that the engines will be installed on the Lada Azimut crossover and other Lada models.
The head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, noted that, despite the decline in the Russian automotive market, the company does not stop working on future projects.
Currently, it is necessary to focus efforts on launching Lada Azimut. The world premiere of the car at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum became a landmark event of this year. The promising crossover on the modernized Lada Vesta platform was very warmly received by the expert community, and now the success of this project depends only on us.

The company plans to launch mass production of Lada Azimut in the first half of 2026. Sales will begin at the turn of the second and third quarters.
