RITM 400 is almost twice as powerful as its predecessor, increasing in size by only 15%. In shipbuilding, according to Anton Lebedev, head of ZiO-Podolsk, the dimensions of the equipment are one of the most important parameters. RITM 400 is not only powerful, but also phenomenally durable: it will work without refueling for 26 thousand hours - almost three years.
The set of reactors for "Russia" was also manufactured at ZiO-Podolsk for three years, and seven inventions were patented in the process. In May, when they were finishing work with the first reactor, at the initiative of Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev, the pair was named after the epic heroes: Ilya Muromets and Dobrynya Nikitich.
In total, taking into account the two hero reactors, we have manufactured 12 RITM series units. Another 14 are in operation - for the nuclear icebreaker fleet and projects in the field of small nuclear energy
The "Russia" nuclear-powered ship will be able to break ice four meters thick and lay a channel 50 meters wide. A power of 120 MW on the propellers will provide a speed of 12 knots (22.2 km/h) in ice 2 m thick. Icebreakers of Project 10510 will help ensure year-round navigation of ships in the eastern sector of the Northern Sea Route, which will give an additional impetus to the development of the Arctic.
Earlierwww1 reported that the assembly of the second improvedRITM-400 reactor for the "Russia" icebreaker of Project 10510 was completed at the Rosatom plant.
