Launchers of the Iskander operational-tactical missile system with missiles ready for launch were spotted on the highway in the Kaliningrad region. Military expert Yuri Knutov noted that this is not a permanent deployment, but rather planned actions conditioned by the current situation.
The flight of the Iskander missile takes from two to four minutes. Today's modification of the complex officially has a range of up to 500 kilometers. But after the termination of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, it can be assumed that the potential has been increased - up to 1000 kilometers.
One of the key factors causing concern to the enemy is the speed and range of Russian missiles.
Speed and maneuverability make the Iskander an extremely difficult target to intercept by existing air defense systems. The missile actively maneuvers on the flight path, which confuses enemy radars and makes it difficult to predict the point of impact. In addition, the complex is capable of using various types of warheads, including cluster, penetrating and electromagnetic, which allows you to adapt the strike to a specific target.
High accuracy is another key advantage of the Iskander. The complex uses a combination of an inertial navigation system and an optical homing head on the final leg of the trajectory. This makes it possible to achieve a circular probable deviation (CEP) of only a few meters, which ensures the destruction of even small targets with a high degree of probability.
Earlier www1 reported that Iskander complexes ready for launch near Kaliningrad were filmed on video.
