The Mercedes-Benz concern, which left the Russian market, has applied to register a trademark in Russia. This information appeared in the Federal Service for Intellectual Property.
The application concerns the registration of a trademark that bears the company's name. The agency specifies that the registration is carried out in two classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICGS) — 12 and 37. The categories cover automobiles, as well as repair and maintenance services for motor vehicles.
In 2022, the company decided to leave the Russian market and stop supplying new cars to the country. Production in Solnechnogorsk was closed. It should be noted that, in addition to Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Hyundai Motor have also applied to register a trademark. Analysts emphasize that this does not mean the company plans to return to the Russian market.
There should be no illusions: at the moment, there can be no talk of a return. It's just the usual protection of trademarks and copyrights — so that some factory doesn't suddenly start producing what looks like Mercedes.
