Russia has fully completed work on the preliminary design of the new PD-26 heavy engine, according to materials for the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin on engine building.
The power plant is being built on the basis of the developed gas generator of the PD-35 engine. The project is scheduled to be defended in September 2025 with the closure of the state contract between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and PJSC "Il".
First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov noted that the heavy aircraft engine being created in Russia will have a thrust of 26 tons.
The unit can be used both for a promising wide-body passenger airliner and for military transport aircraft.
Earlier www1.ru reported that ODK has found a way to reduce the weight of the PD-8 aircraft engine for SJ-100 and Be-200 aircraft.
