Specialists from the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) are using solutions derived from the PD-35 when creating the new PD-26 engine for a prospective military transport aircraft, the company's press service reported.
This refers to the PD-35 gas generator, as well as a set of critical materials and technologies.
The obtained characteristics and parameters of the PD-35 demonstrator engine confirmed the correctness of the technical solutions, which allows us to continue work on promising domestic high-thrust engines.
First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov noted that the heavy aircraft engine being created in Russia will have a thrust of 26 tons. At the same time, the unit will be universal and can be used both for military transport aircraft and for the Russian prospective wide-body passenger airliner.
The PD-35 engine is the first engine in Russia with a thrust of 35 tons. The power plant passed the first stage of testing at the "UEC-Aviadvigatel" stand, specially created for testing engines with a thrust from 24 to 50 tons.
Earlier www1.ru reported that China will not take off without the PD-35: it has no other engine for the C-929 wide-body aircraft.
