From September 1, mandatory verification of carsharing users via Mos ID has been introduced in Moscow. To confirm identity, a full account on the mos.ru portal is required, which can be obtained with a Russian mobile operator number.
These rules also apply to visitors to the capital: visitors undergo identification under the same conditions as Muscovites.
The test period runs until November 2025: users will be able to make several trips, receiving notifications about the need to undergo verification. If identity is not confirmed, access to carsharing services will be limited until the procedure is completed.
As expected, the new system will allow to block access to rental for drivers with regular traffic violations in advance; speed up the identification of the driver in case of an accident or emergency.
