The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) has patented a wide-body long-range aircraft, which in terms of its characteristics will be similar to the Boeing 787. The press service of the MAKS air show has published a detailed project of the new airliner.
The appearance of the aircraft is likely to undergo changes during development, but the published images give an idea of what the new flagship of the Russian aviation industry will look like.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade intends to launch research and development work in 2026, so it is still premature to talk about specific dates and additional details.
The following technical information regarding the new development is presented in the documents:
- Capacity of 281 passengers in the basic version. The shortened and extended versions provide for 236 and 320 seats, respectively.
- Range: 13,600 km in the basic version, 12,000 km in the shortened version, and 10,300 km in the extended version.
- Materials: the use of polymer composite materials is envisaged.
- Preliminary name and indexing: ShFDMS (wide-body long-range aircraft) -500, -600 and -700.
Earlier www1.ru reported that 14 SSJ-100 aircraft were found to have defects in the fuselage structure.
