The Tupolev branch in Zhukovsky showed the Tu-214 aircraft with fully import-substituted onboard equipment. The chief designer of the Tu-214, Stanislav Baranov, noted that the aircraft with number 509 is used as a flying laboratory for certification tests.
According to him, the machine has already performed about 60 flights. In total, the import substitution program is designed for 70 flights, after which the materials will be sent to the country's aviation authorities.
In addition, Tupolev is working to reduce the weight of the equipped aircraft and improve flight performance, as well as to switch to a modification with two crew members.
The entire flight and engineering staff had to work hard. The work was intense, flights were performed almost every day, and even two flights a day. Including weekends and holidays. Nevertheless, the result was a success.
He noted that since the installation of import-substituted equipment, all systems have worked properly with the exception of minor comments. Petunin stressed that the new components are in no way inferior to competitors in the market, and in some respects exceed them.
