The promising Russian PD-35 aircraft engine will become a universal power plant that can be used to motorize super-heavy flying trucks, including the new Chinese wide-body C-929 aircraft, said aviation expert Roman Gusarov.
According to him, the powerful turbo unit will be in demand both domestically and abroad.
When it is ready, making a decision about its use is quite easy. It will take time to launch the production of a civilian or special board. I believe that we should be talking about the 2030s, when replacing the long-haul cargo and passenger fleet will become more relevant.
The specialist urged not to dismiss the resumption of partnership with China on the C-929 wide-body aircraft. He recalled that the Chinese side already has a board, but without engines yet.
The geopolitical situation is constantly changing, Western partners can withdraw from cooperation at any moment. The Russian PD-35 will then become the only option for the C-929 to take off.
Meanwhile, the United Aircraft Corporation (part of Rostec) has patented a new wide-body long-haul aircraft. Footage of the prototype of the new product has appeared online.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a video of the tests of the new PD-35 aircraft engine has appeared, but there is no aircraft for it yet.
